Okay, the countdown’s on… it’s almost Christmas.  

Now, I’ve done a video before about don’t waste your ‘out of office’ to just tell people that you’re out of the office. 

Use it as a chance to let them know what you’re doing. 

Off the back of this year, you want to make your Christmas out of office more important and give it more attention than you’ve ever done before.   

Because people are genuinely going to want to know what it is that you’re doing.  

So don’t just say you’ll be out of the office from I don’t know, the 18th (Dec) until the 4th (Jan) or whatever the dates are.  

Let me know what you’re going to be doing and where you’re going to be going.   

Because quite frankly, that’s going to be very exciting for some people that aren’t going to be doing much.  

So for example, over this break, I’m going to be spending some time with my two sons, I’ve got a 9 and an 11 year old.  

So we’re going to be doing a lot of things just together as a family.  

We’re going to be doing day trips, because I’m in Melbourne and we haven’t done a lot of getting out and about.  

I’m going to continue playing baseball while we can. 

 We only started our season last Saturday, so we’ve got a few more games before Christmas and then we start again in January.   

And I’m writing a book.  

I’m writing a book about being more valuable in business and in life.  

And I’m going to use that time when I’m not doing my normal everyday work to really get the majority of it nutted out, I’ve planned it all and got it ready to go so I’m going to use that time to make the most of it.  

Now I’m going to be putting that in my’ out of office’.  

And I’m hoping it’s a little bit more interesting, then I’m just finishing up on the 18th and I’ll be back on the 4th.  

So, what’s your version of that?  

And how can you share that, in your out of office, even do a little video, like with a crazy hat on, a Christmas hat or something to give people a little bit of insight into what are the things you’re doing.  

And it’s really cool too, because when you get back from holidays, it just adds another little talking point.   

So “how was that trip that you took up to Merimbula or how was that trip to the Gold Coast?” whatever it might be that you get to do over the break.  

And on that note, remember, have a great time doing whatever it is that you do.  

Have a break if you do get a chance.   

And remember, it’s not about the presents under the tree that matters…it’s who’s sitting around it.   

Anyway, I thought that was really cute.
