Build a business that makes you proud

PRACTICAL IDEAS TO LEARN, TRY AND DO

A nifty way to help you stand out using your business card [VIDEO]

Here’s a short video (under 3 minutes) to help your business grow.

If you prefer to read it, keep going.

In today’s video, I share a really cool thing I’ve done recently with my business cards which is working a treat to get people curious about what I do and how I help.

When it comes to dealing with your clients, it’s really important to remember it’s all about them, not about you.

And a great book written by Bruce Turkel called “It’s All About Them” is a great, easy refresh and reminder.

Anyway, one of the things that I’ve just recently done is I’ve redone my business cards.

And what I did, it’s pretty cute.

Well, I think it’s pretty cute anyway, is on one side of the business card, and I’ll put it up there, a little bit easier to see.

I’ve just written “You Rok“, okay.

It’s one of the words I use all the time in business.

It’s actually part of the reason why my business name is 9Rok.

But most importantly, when someone picks that up, usually someone who doesn’t know me or we’re just getting to know each, they read that and they go, “Oh, how cool is that”.

Now, on the back of it of course I’ve got all my contact details cause otherwise, what’s the point of a business card.

But, the front of it is all about them.

And, what I did is I went through moo.com, M O O.com.

And you can actually pick up to ten different backgrounds.

So this one is, instead of “You Rok” it is, “Value is Your Superpower“.

Again, I do a lot of work helping advisers understand their value and demonstrate it.

I always use the word superpower.

So it’s kind of something about my clients but it’s also better than just you know: “we help financial advice businesses grow and get more clients et cetera et cetera.”

That would be super boring.

And by the way, you wouldn’t really want my logo on the front either, that doesn’t tell you much.

My business name’s on the back.

You can already get that information.

Then here’s another one, “Value is the New Black“.

And another one, I like this one, “You’re Worth It” okay.

So, I’ve been doing quite a lot of speaking events lately and I wanted to give out a little prize for someone in the session who answered a question right.

I went and bought these gorgeous, the new flavors of the Lindt chocolate, wrapped them really nicely and then I just stuck, “You’re Worth It” on the front.

And the amount of people that have come up to me going, “Oh wow, that’s really cool”.

What they didn’t realize… then they flip it up and it’s actually my business card.

Don’t think it would have quite had the same impact if that was just my business logo on the front.

So anyway, this is just something that I’ve done recently.

I’m getting really great feedback.

It’s working, it’s a little bit different, it’s standing out.

So, maybe it’s something that you might consider when you’re getting your business cards redone.

Have one side that’s all about your client, have something fun and nifty.

And of course the other side, your contact details.

Whatever you do with that, Make It Count.
