Build a business that makes you proud

PRACTICAL IDEAS TO LEARN, TRY AND DO

You want people to take action – tell stories… here’s why [VIDEO]

Here’s a short video (just 3 minutes) with a practical idea to help your business grow.

I’ve also included the written version if you prefer to read it.

Give it a go – and make every minute count!

In today’s video, share how powerful telling stories is to help people, relate, connect and importantly, take action.

MAKE IT COUNT – PRACTICAL POINTERS TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS IN ONLY MINUTES

People don’t buy what they don’t understand.

And one of the easiest ways to help people better understand what you do or why you do it is to use stories.

Now you know we’ve heard about this and anyone who has been around for any amount of time probably already does this.

But I mean using stories to help explain maybe why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Or stories to explain why they need to do X, Y and Z that you’re advising, why they need to take out that insurance or protection, why they need to invest their money this way, why they need to start a budget, whatever it might be.

When you’re explaining it, use a story, either use a real-life story maybe something personal that’s happened to you or maybe it’s something that happened to another client, that is just like them.

That also reinforces that ‘wow I’m not alone kind of feeling for them.

Or maybe a story that you heard someone else tell or someone else shares and maybe it’s a story that’s not even from our industry that can still help people understand the message that you’re trying to convey.

So, a little while ago I was at a business chick’s event and there was a woman there selling a lot of handmade body products and honestly I wasn’t interested. But the friend that I was with was interested.

So we’re standing at the counter and this woman shared how she came up with these body products… so to share the ugly story…

She used to have a lot of body odor herself and used to sweat all the time and to the point where her friends called her ‘Kabab’.

And the name of this company was actually ‘Babs’ body products so it’s quite memorable.

But she said smelt so bad that every single product every deodorant or antiperspirant that she’s ever tried, none of them ever helped.

So she actually went out and developed her own product, using all natural ingredients, and brought it to the market and the only thing that she everything been able to use that’s taken away that smell.

And as a result, she’s now creating it and sharing it with other people.

Funny enough, after I heard that story I bought the product and by the way, I love it.

However, I would never ever have bought it, I was so close, I was not in the market or even interested in buying body products. I’ve got enough of them myself but as soon as I heard her story everything changed.

Now that’s just one example.

You’ll have your own that are more specific to the type of advice that you provide.

But whatever you do tell a story help someone get in there and relate to something, so it compels them to go… ‘ah I get it, I understand and I want what they’ve got.

So, whatever you do with that Make It Count.
